2015 Meeting Update

This year’s theme is 50 Years of Forest Economics Research! Calls for abstracts and presentation submissions are now closed. Lodging information is below.

The 2015 WFE Joint Meeting with ISFRE (The International Society Of Forest Resource Economics) date has been set for May 31 to June 2, 2015. This year we will meet at the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia, 2424 Main Mall, in Vancouver, British Columbia. (Click here for location map and directions.)
UBC is easily accessible from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) via transit (TransLink) and taxi. The TransLink website offers a helpful Trip Planner and the Walter Gage Residence in conveniently located directly across the street from the bus terminal at UBC.

Meals: All meals will be provided to meeting participants for the duration of the event. Please note any dietary restrictions at the time of registration and we will ensure that your needs are met by our caterers.

Special Events: One special event to note is the optional Stanley Park urban forest tour, guided by members of the Stanley Park Ecology Society, that will be happening at 3 pm on Sunday, May 31. The tour will provide a history of Stanley Park and introduction to the ecology of the World’s Best Urban Park, as rated by TripAdvisor! Family, friends and colleagues are welcome to join us for this event; pre-registration of all tour participants is required. The cost of the tour is $15 per adult and $10 per child. Group size is limited to 30 participants, so be sure to reserve your spot early!

Event outreach: We have begun to spread the word about this year’s meeting using the Twitter handle #WFE2015. Please feel free to share any related web-based materials or photos using this handle.

50th Meeting: This year marks the 50th Meeting of the Western Forest Economists. To mark the occasion, we are collecting photos, articles and other materials that highlight key events in western forest economics over the past 50 years. If you have any materials that you would like to share with the group to commemorate this occasion, please send them to ngaio.hotte (at) ubc.ca.
